Nothing beats a good coffee first thing in the morning but recently on these wintery mornings, I’ve been loving spicier, warming drinks like golden milk (turmeric milk) and chai lattes. One morning I thought I’d have a go at fusing them together and this deliciously scented beverage was the result. I sipped on it in front of the Christmas tree with the cats and my baby Rosalie but you could enjoy this at anytime of day and it goes extremely well with a mince pie or two as well. Enjoy!

Chai golden latte (dairy-free and refined sugar-free)

(Serves 1)

180 ml boiled water

75ml oat milk or unsweetened almond milk

1 tsp fair trade freeze dried coffee or decaf

1 heaped tsp raw honey (use maple syrup to make a vegan version)

1/4 tsp chai spice or 1 Pukka vanilla chai tea bag

1/4 tsp ground turmeric

1 pinch vanilla powder

Method:

Fill the kettle with water and boil.

In a saucepan or a microwave, gently heat the milk on a low heat until warm. Use a hand whisk or a milk frother to create a froth.

In a large mug, add the chai spice or the teabag, turmeric, vanilla powder, coffee and honey and pour over the boiling water. Remove the tea bag (if using) once it has infused into the milk.

Finally add the warm frothy milk and enjoy.
